Now, I’ve been knitting for alot of years. Well, make that I’ve known how to knit for many years. I picked it up again last year, and have been happily obsessively knitting away.
And I am stumped. I’ve done socks, mittens, sweaters, baby bootees and scarves. Countless scarves. Some of them lace patterned.
So, what’s the next step? Knitting a lace stole with laceweight yarn. I figured this would be a good “starter” project, before tackling the Hazel Carter Song of Hiawatha, which is on my list of Things I Must Knit.
But, my Addi Turbos. They let me down, big-time. My favorite needles in the whole world, which make my knitting fly by effortlessly, caused me to frog the first 20 rows of the project several times in frustration. Do you know what it’s like to rip out laceweight? Yeah. The last couple involved a scissor and a quick snip and restart.
I don’t know if I’m going to make it through this project. My husband watched the first couple of stitch rippings, and asked, “Why are you knitting with thread?”
I’m starting to ask myself the same question.
